Join the 56th edition of the West Wales Congress, a friendly but competitive weekender in one of Swansea’s best-connected venues. The event features three sections, all FIDE-rated, and is open to any FIDE-registered player from the Welsh Chess Union or another national body.

If you are not yet FIDE-registered, it’s a simple process – guidance is available on request.

⏱ Rate of Play

All moves in 90 minutes with 30 seconds increment per move from move one.

Digital clocks will be used throughout.

📋 Additional Rules & Notes

Byes: ½-point bye allowed in any of the first four rounds (must be requested with entry).

Withdrawals: Refunds only considered once overheads are covered.

Late arrivals: 30-minute default time.

Prize policy: No player may win more than one prize (highest prize only).

Ratings: October 2025 FIDE list will be used.

Unrated players should consult the Congress Secretary before entering Major or Minor.

Just 7 miles from Swansea city centre and 2 miles from J47 of the M4.

The venue has a large car park, and there are shops and pubs nearby.
